Steps of Recovery

Nothing you can say...

Most newcomers that arrive at their first S-Anon meeting are frightened to share their story. They either think that their story is too crazy or too scandalous to speak out loud to a room full of strangers. We get it, we were once in your chair. We too felt that no one could understand what we had gone through, what we were dealing with. Upon entering these rooms, you quickly see that we are all in different stages of the same disease.

Most lived in denial of what was happening around them, too ashamed to share it with friends or family. Some were so obsessive and have dealt with it for so many years that they became numb to the world around them. Many have dealt with legal or finance issues due to the sex addict/sexaholic in their life. So many of us share a similar story that when we read the S-Anon literature or listen to other's share in the meetings, it feels like someone is speaking our lives.

This is a room where you can say anything, speak fears, share your deepest darkest thoughts and feelings and no one would blink an eye, or cast a judgmental look. When an individual has experienced trauma they'll almost do and think anything to help them cope. Our focus is on you, the friend or family member. We are not here to help your addict get better. We are here to support you through your journey of recovering your feeling of joy.
